If you live in the Bay Area, then I won’t bother getting on my soap box to convince you that the Bay Area is the best place to live. There are so many fun activites for families everywhere you turn! Take for example, Old Mill Park in Mill Valley. That’s where we shot the cover for the Family Navigator Magazine (it’s FREE and on stands now.) Meet Nate, Samantha, and Zach. Nate was very familiar with the place, that’s where he spent last summer in science camp. His sister Sam had the most gorgeous blonde hair I’ve ever seen. Little brother Zach is 5 and was kind enough to introduce himself to me, “Hi I’m Zach, but you can call me Zachary.” The 3 of them were more than happy to show me around and pose for my camera. And this place, this place is stunning…a babbling brook, beautiful grove of tall redwoods, bridges, playground and an old mill. Pick up a copy of the magazine to read about more fantastic places in the Bay Area to bring your family. Plus, there’s an entire section dedicated to freebies…getting the best bang for none of your bucks. Be sure to pick up a copy at your local library, doctor’s office, schools, Safeway, etc anywhere in the counties of San Francisco, Peninsula, Marin, and the entire East Bay.
A few more images that didn’t make it in the magazine. This is the beautiful old mill. It was about 2 stories high and the beams were about a foot thick. Probably not the safest spot for photos but these kids were brave! They insisted they take pictures up there. I love this one. It just screams 20×24 canvas above the fireplace.

By the way, I’m flattered by the amount of emails I’ve been getting from other photogs. I’m always surprised when someone thinks I actually know something about photography. ;p I have no secrets and I’m always happy to share everything I’ve learned. It may take a day or two, but I make it a point to always answer all your emails and questions. I even had a couple requests for private lessons and in all honesty, I make a horrible teacher. I’d feel wrong taking your money. Take me out to lunch, pick my brain, and we’ll call it even =) So anyway, I took all of these with a 70-200 mm lens. I shoot with a Canon 5D.
